Twitter Quiz – How to Create One That Drives New Conversions and Revenue

With almost 400 million users today, Twitter is a force to be reckoned with. And even with the rise of new social media platforms such as TikTok, it remains popular as a way to communicate, share ideas and news and have fun.

But there is another major use case for Twitter – generating leads. And while the typical Twitter ads can create some short-term effects, there is an even more potent strategy – creating a Twitter quiz.

Today, we’ll give you a step-by-step guide on how to create a Twitter quiz with a quiz creator so you can start generating new business from this super popular platform.

Is a Twitter quiz for me?

You may be thinking – sure, the user base is really big but my audience doesn’t really spend time there. The truth is, if you already have a sizeable following on Twitter and you use the platform regularly, you can benefit from a quiz.

The first reason is that quizzes actually generate leads. We’ve done some research and found that the average lead capture rate for a typical quiz is around 31%. That means that for every 100 people who take a quiz, you’ll get the data of 31 quiz takers. All that is left to do is to push them down the funnel.

The second aspect is the inherent shareability of quizzes. People love sharing their quiz results, especially if you wrote them to be fun and engaging. In fact, your typical quiz gets shared over 2,000 times on average – they’re ideal to spark retweets.

They’re viral by nature and they can bring new leads – so it’s clear that quizzes can benefit Twitter users looking to generate revenue. Here’s how to get started.

Choose the type of quiz you want to create

The beauty of Twitter is the fact that there are lots of diverse audiences on the platform and no matter what you sell, there should be someone out there you can sell to. However, the basics of lead generation entail that you should choose the right online quiz format.

You can see some of the basics in our quiz templates library. The main types include:

  • Assessment quiz
  • Buzzfeed style quiz
  • Diagnostic quiz
  • Trivia quiz
  • Matching quiz
  • Personality quiz
  • Scored quiz
  • True/false quiz

Most of these can be used to pitch any type of product. However, you know your target audience best and you know the format that would engage them the most and make them fill out an opt-in form.

You can choose a total of 44 quiz templates in the LeadQuizzes library, spread across these main quiz types. Even if you don’t know where to get started with your questions, these templates will help you get going.

The quiz should be hosted on your website – we have the functionality to embed it and make it look like it’s a native part of it. Later on, you’ll need to promote this quiz on your Twitter feed using this link.

Create the quiz questions and answers

Everyone wants to know their quiz results, but the truth is that not even the best quiz title will save you if your questions are boring. Just remember that people come to Twitter because of the format – short, digestible content with 280 characters at a maximum. Keep this in mind when creating your own quiz ideas and titles.

First, you’ll see from our quiz templates that the number of questions isn’t that big. Usually it’s 8-10 questions because statistically, this produces the highest chance of the quiz being completed.

There should be no more than 3-4 correct answers and you can choose how you want those answers to be displayed. But more on that in a second

Types of quiz questions

The great thing about quizzes? They’re as short as entertaining as reading a good tweet. Depending on the results you want and the audience you’re talking to, you can choose between different question types, such as:

  • True and false questions
  • Matching questions (match one term from the question with another from the answer – or a word with an image in the answer)
  • Fill in the gaps (where the answer is a word that fills a sentence or phrase)
  • Odd one out
  • Open ended questions

You can mix and match the question types to keep the quiz more interesting.

Bonus: logic branching

A good quiz builder allows you to use something called logic branching and skip logic, too. This feature lets your quiz takers skip some questions and get different questions based on the responses they give.

Sounds complex? For example, here’s a question about annual income in a quiz:

If a quiz taker responds with an answer lower than $40k per year, they get a different set of questions after that. This makes sure your audience gets better questions and results, and you can sell the right product to the right audience.

Quiz answers

In line with the questions, the answers should be short and to the point – a few words at a maximum. Depending on the question type you choose, a few words could be all that you can actually use.

Our suggestion to keep the quiz fun and fast-paced is to use images as answers – especially if you can use your own product images. If you’re looking to set up your own picture quiz, we have templates and guides for this use case.

Create a lead capture form

You may be thinking – wait, shouldn’t the quiz takers see the outcome first? And the answer is, no – they have to give you something in return.

Before showing them what type of animal they are, which US city is ideal for them or whatever else your quiz topic is, make sure to capture their data first. Email, phone number, website, whatever your preferred piece of information is.

Once they submit their info, they can then proceed to the outcome screen. The quiz may have started on Twitter, but now you have much more information you can use for marketing and sales.

PS. if you’re only looking to create forms without creating an entire quiz, you can grab one of our form templates.

Create the outcomes

The quiz outcomes are the reason why people start a quiz in the first place. If you’re using a good quiz maker, you’ll be able to create the outcomes right after you finish with the questions.

The outcomes should be even more interesting and engaging than the quiz questions. Ideally, you want the quiz taker to be so in love with their quiz result that they share it with their followers on Twitter.

Ideally, the outcome should be tied to a product or a category of products that you sell. This is an easy chance to segment your target audience and send them right to the landing page where they can buy the very item that they were just reading about.

Share the quiz on Twitter

Once you’re done creating the quiz, you need to put it in front of the right set of eyes. You could go the standard route of copying and pasting a link but it takes a bit more to get engagement from Twitter users.

Step 1: Share a quiz from the quiz maker dashboard

Grab the quiz link from your favorite quiz maker dashboard and share it as a link with a captivating description on Twitter. Once you’re in the LeadQuizzes editor, you can click on “Share” to get a link that you can immediately copy and paste to Twitter. Alternatively, click on the Twitter icon below and you can share the link to your quiz straight from the dashboard.

Step 2: Creating the actual tweet

One of the ways to get more reach is to enrich your tweet with the right hashtags such as #quiz and the accompanying ones related to your industry. Good humor, funny captions and gifs can go a long way in making your quiz go viral.

Entice your audience with a few details – ask them a question and start a discussion

Step 3: Voila, your Twitter quiz is done

Now that you’ve finished all the steps, your quiz is officially done and ready. You can now start engaging your audience and growing your revenue after capturing leads with your quiz.

Push those leads down the funnel

Twitter is more of a community where your ideal customers hang out, get informed and waste time. To get them to make a purchase, use the information you got from the lead capture form to further promote your brand and product.

For example, LeadQuizzes has a long list of integrations that you can use for this purpose. Use tools like GetResponse or ActiveCampaign to add new quiz takers to a mailing list where they get new emails about your products and offers.

Alternatively, you can connect the Facebook pixel for maximum effect. In LeadQuizzes, it’s easy to set up a pixel retargeting integration based on criteria such as quiz results. That means that with a few clicks, you can retarget potential customers with the exact products they saw in their results.

The possibilities are endless.

Creating a Twitter quiz is one of the best things that you can do for your audience on this social network. Your Twitter followers will get a chance to find out something new about themselves and you get a chance to capture fresh leads and grow your revenue.
